Synopsis

American Niall Monroe returns to Hong Kong—a city he calls home—after being away for eight years. He hopes to finally find happiness with Peter Wei, his closeted lover of fourteen years, but is disappointed to find Peter has been put in an untenable position. He must marry and produce the long-awaited grandchild or get cut off by his millionaire father.

James, Peter’s younger brother, has been Niall’s best friend since they were schoolmates. He encourages Niall to ditch his brother and move on. He encourages Niall to ditch his brother until he finds out Niall is thinking of dating Gerard Sun, a talented artist.

Gerard Sun, a talented artist, bursts back into Niall’s life after a one-night stand in Las Vegas. Circumstances force the men to deal with their attraction, especially when Niall’s firm considers Gerard to help promote tourism in the People’s Republic of China.

Coming home seemed like a great idea until it wasn’t. Niall finds himself a stranger in a familiar landscape, slammed on multiple fronts by broken promises, jealousy, intrigue, unimaginable deceit, and undercurrents of evil. As his dreams quickly turn into nightmares, Niall reaches out to new allies for support.

Review

I just have to say, I loved this book so much! I honestly wouldn’t change anything about it, it was a perfect mix of romance, drama, intrigue and suspense! I couldn’t put it down!

Niall Monroe is a beautiful, blue eyed American with red hair who grew up in Hong Kong. Niall has always felt like he was an outsider, he looks so different from the people he grew up with. Within the culture in which he feels at home, Niall speaks the language like a native, knows and understands the traditions, but never really feels like he belongs. I love Niall, but growing up in a world where he stood out so much has had a major impact on his heart and the way he sees himself. At 15, Niall falls for his best friend James’ older brother, 21 year old Peter Wei. The next 14 years of his life he will spend believing Peter is the love of his life even though much time goes by between seeing each other. Niall left Hong Kong for college in America and travels with his job. The two men have an open relationship and Peter takes much advantage of that situation. This “relationship” of theirs is seemingly very one sided.

Gerard Sun is just Niall’s type and when they meet in Vegas, sparks fly. The Asian artist is smart, sexy, interesting and fun, but Niall denies feeling anything more for the man than attraction and plans to leave things at their one night together. Gerard can’t forget the beautiful American “ginger” from Vegas and sees Niall again in Hong Kong, where Gerard lives. From the first moment we meet Gerard, I was on his side! This guy is hot, hot, hot and actually a really good guy too....irresistible!

Niall has finally seen the light and ended things with Peter and admits to a connection with Gerard. What happens next is a series of events that change EVERYTHING Niall ever thought he knew and felt! It’s such a great ride and I loved how the story develops into this really great suspenseful romance! This is my fourth book by this author in the last few months and she is quickly becoming a favorite!
